'Bout that time, eh?

Yeesh, getting started in this blogging business is serious stuff - no messing around as far as I can tell.

My journey to South America will begin officially on the Day of the Dead, October 31, 2006. Six years in the making, this will be my first visit to the region that I spent a year in on exchange in 1999-2000. Venezuela and the 2006 presidential elections there will provide Act I and hopefully a gambit of compelling stories, pictures, and controversies that can be shared around the world. It promises to be an exciting time, if for no other reason except that politics in South America tend to be exciting at all times.

Other highlights may include updates on other countries in the region, including Central America, and stops in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador among others. The countdown has begun, so revel in the excitement and don't forget to start planning your costume.
